Please help us raise donations to save Daiki!
Daiki was born as a healthy baby in Japan, on November 2014. However, doctors diagnosed Daiki with heart failure due to dilated cardiomyopathy at the age of 8 months.
Dilated cardiomyopathy is an incurable condition in which heart muscles abnormally stretch and fail to provide the pressure for normal blood flow. Following the diagnosis, Daiki’s condition rapidly deteriorated.
With the help from the cardiology team at the University of Tokyo Hospital, Daiki has been placed on an artificial heart to tide him until he can obtain a heart transplant. Unfortunately, the life-saving artificial heart increases the risk of serious infection and brain infarction. Compound to this the near certainty of not being able to obtain a heart transplant in Japan, Daiki’s parents have asked the cardiology team at Columbia University Medical Center to help with their situation.
The Columbia University Medical Center has accepted the request, but the costs are prohibitively high. We are currently raising $2,850,000 to help cover the costs of his heart transplant at Columbia University. This amount will include 3 years of care after the transplant operation to ensure that Daiki has a chance of a normal life.
